Noted rail photographer Al
Roberts gives the reader the lowdown on New York Central’s “Lines East” during
the company’s last years, and Penn Central’s first. Pictures go from Grand Central and electric
operations to E-units on passenger trains, RDCs, yards, equipment, Flexi-Vans
and Nickel Plate No. 759 on the Golden Spike Centennial excursion train. Photo quality is very good, but knowledgeable
NYC folks will find the captions a bit “light”.
The book favors major terminal areas at the expense of “life along the
Mohawk”.
